Report: Conte identifies ‘exceptional’ free agent he thinks would be perfect for Spurs, Klopp loves him too

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a swoop for Ivan Perisic this summer, according to .

The Inter Milan ace is a player that both Spurs boss Antonio Conte and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp like.

Perisic played under the current Tottenham coach at the San Siro, winning the Serie A title last year.

He also plied his trade under the incumbent Reds boss at Borussia Dortmund, where they also won silverware.

“I am really looking forward to seeing Ivan Perisic,” Klopp said before Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Inter.

“I really like him. We won the double together.”

However, the likelihood is that, if Perisic moves to the Premier League, it’ll probably be at Tottenham.

Spurs have been linked with the Croatian for a number of months and speculation has resurfaced again.

According to ESPN, Spurs have emerged as a possible alternative destination for Perisic, also on Juventus’ radar.

The player himself is reportedly open to a possible reunion with Conte in north London too.

The Tottenham boss apparently believes Perisic can replicate his title-winning wing-back efforts from 2021 in England.

Although Perisic reportedly favours Juve, Spurs are said to have been encouraged to believe a deal may be reached.

“Owner of the left wing”

In February, Perisic was one of Inter’s best players in their Champions League last-16 first-leg defeat to Liverpool.

gave him 7/10 and wrote: “When he plays like he did in the second half, he gives the feeling of being one of the best in Europe in that role.

“Continuous challenges, quality crosses, accurate passes and defensive contributions. Too bad they didn’t help him out up front.”

wrote that Perisic was “in a different league”, while called him “exceptional” and the “owner of the left wing”.

So, we have a player who’s experienced, world-class, impressed against one of England’s best teams, knows Conte well, seems keen to join Spurs, and won’t cost a penny in transfer fees.

A no-brainer for Tottenham, really.
