According to , Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte wants to sign Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Spurs look set to return to the Champions League next season after a hugely impressive week. Conte’s men battered Arsenal before picking up an impressive victory against Burnley last weekend.

For Spurs to go to the next level, they need to strengthen multiple areas of the pitch this summer, and midfield is arguably their weakest point at the moment.

Tottenham want to sign John McGinn this summer

Spurs allowed Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso to leave on loan in January, while Dele Alli was sold on a permanent deal. The report claims that Harry Winks looks like the next Tottenham midfielder set to depart, which leaves a void in the middle of their park.

Conte will be looking to bring in at least one new midfielder, if not two this summer, and McGinn has reportedly been identified as a key target.

The Aston Villa man, , has proven his quality in the Premier League over the last two years. He has been magnificent for the Villans, having played 145 times for them in all competitions.

The Scotsman will still have three years left on his contract this summer, but if an opportunity to join a Champions League club comes up, he should take it.

TBR View:

Tottenham need a big summer window. Conte has done an incredible job since his appointment back in November with very little help. Imagine what he’ll do if he’s backed in the transfer market.

Spurs are in desperate need of goals from midfield. The reliance on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min is still way too much, even though Dejan Kulusevski has eased their burden quite a bit.

McGinn isn’t a prolific goalscorer by any means, but he definitely has that in his locker. He’s good at progressing the ball into the final third, which is something Tottenham don’t really have at the moment.

Villa will not make it easy for Spurs or any other club to sign McGinn this summer. But, if Conte tells Daniel Levy that he wants him, the Tottenham chairman simply has to go and get him.
