Report: Conte decides he wants to keep ‘special’ Tottenham player, he’s now expected to stay
Antonio Conte wants defender Japhet Tanganga to stay at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the end of the transfer window.
The write in their live blog (10:55am) that Spurs do not want to let the Englishman leave so close to the deadline.
There has been interest in the defender all summer long and it seems that Conte has been open to doing a deal for Tanganga.
But despite the fact that Nottingham Forest – who Spurs beat 2-0 on Sunday – remain interest in Tanganga, at this stage, an exit is unlikely.

Tanganga now set for Tottenham stay
Tanganga has good potential, defensive diligence and athleticism, and should be a good player at Premier League level.
You can see why Spurs would be happy to keep him, although it is not clear how much gametime he would get if he stayed.
Letting him go could have boosted his value if he shone elsewhere, or perhaps a loan with an obligation to buy could have been engineered, balancing the books somewhat at Spurs.
Gary Neville knows a thing or two about playing right-back and centre-back in the Premier League and has called Tanganga ‘‘.
That is the quality he has defensively, but he needs to do more going forward to be a right wing-back in Conte’s five-man defensive system.
It looks like he is set for a chance to impress the Italian in the months ahead with the games mounting up, unless there is a dramatic change before the deadline.
Forest have been aggressive in their transfer business and a late swoop cannot be ruled out, although they played well against Spurs at the weekend and look to have a real chance of staying up anyway.
