Report: Club want £51.2m for Tottenham and Wolves linked ace; player dreams of PL move

Sporting CP will only sell reported Tottenham and Wolves target Joao Palhinha for €60m (£51.2m), according to .

Wolves and Spurs are said to ‘best have’ the figure the 26-year-old as a target. However, they face competition from fellow Premier League clubs, including Everton and Leicester City.

The midfielder has previously claimed he dreams of playing in the English top-flight. But, there still remains interest from Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and an unnamed Italian club.

His manager Ruben Amorim is keen on retaining his services and has told him he’s a key player next season.

The midfielder starred for Portugal at Euro 2020, starting each of his country’s final two games.

Prior to then, he helped the Lions lift the Ligo NOS title for the first time since 2002. Palhinha figured heavily for Amorim’s men, playing 32 times in the Portuguese top-flight.

Wolves and Tottenham could struggle to sign £51.2m-rated ace

It seems the Sporting manager is extremely keen on retaining the services of Palhinha, and for good reason. The Leoes are returning to the Champions League for the first time since the 2017/2018 season. Keeping a key player could be important in making it out of the group stages.

And then you have the financial situations surrounding both clubs. Wolves made a loss of £39.3m and Spurs, £63.9m during the period most affected by the pandemic. Spending over £50m on one player could prove fairly hefty.

Most importantly, the central player is being widely chased by Champions League outfit. Even if the Lilywhitesand the Midlanders did pay his release clause, it’s highly unlikely he’d pick them over out suitors.
