Report: Club now decide they want to sign ‘exceptional’ Arsenal player, but it’s going to be very difficult

Italian Serie A outfit Udinese want to sign Hector Bellerin from Arsenal before the end of the transfer window.

Journalist reports that Udinese are looking to replace Brandon Soppy, who is heading for fellow Italian club Atalanta.

That deal could be worth around £8.4 million when add-ons are included, and that is the money they have to try and find a replacement.

The report says that the Italian side know it could well be very difficult to get Bellerin through the door this summer.

Udinese want Bellerin

He spent last season with Real Betis in La Liga on loan but he had to take a real hit to his Arsenal salary to make that move happen.

It has been expected that he would make that move permanent this summer, but the fact it has so far not materialised underlines the difficulties of that.

Bellerin would have to take a salary cut on a permanent basis and the prospect of tearing up his contract has been mooted but not confirmed yet.

The interest from Italy suggests the Betis return is far from a done deal, even if Udinese are perhaps expecting to run into the same problems as they try to sign Bellerin.

Mikel Arteta has called Bellerin ‘exceptional‘, and clearly retains huge respect for him as a person and a player, but respects his wishes in terms of moving on.

Everyone concerned may have hoped to have had the deal done by now but Bellerin’s future remains up in the air as it stands.
