Report: Club lead pursuit to sign Liverpool player on loan, he was on bench in PL opener

Scottish club Hearts are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool player Ben Woodburn on loan.

, the Welshman is set to depart Anfield on a temporary basis this season to play regularly elsewhere.

Hearts are keen on taking the 21-year-old to Tynecastle, along with clubs in both Denmark and Croatia.

The report states though that Hearts are the team leading the race for his loan signature.

Woodburn, who’s a product of the Liverpool academy, looks like he could be leaving Merseyside on yet another loan deal if a transfer can be arranged within the next couple of weeks. He’s previously been on loan at Sheffield United, Oxford United and Blackpool.

The attacking midfielder only has one year remaining on his Reds contract.

However, he should take encouragement from the fact he did feature regularly during pre-season. In addition, he was on the bench for the Premier League opener on Saturday in the 3-0 victory against Norwich City.

Ben Woodburn needs big 2021/22 season

With his contract expiring next summer, it’s a pivotal campaign for Woodburn.

The creative playmaker has bags of potential and ability, but needs to start showing it at senior level.

It feels like on paper Hearts could be a great destination for him. They are back in the Scottish top flight after promotion last year and are looking to make a big impression on their return.

Beni Baningime has started the season well at Hearts since joining on a permanent basis in the summer, so perhaps Woodburn could replica the ex-Everton midfielder.
