Report: Club join pursuit for Leeds 21-year-old, he’s likely to leave on loan

National League club Stockport County have reportedly joined the race for Leeds United prospect Robbie Gotts.

According to the , the 21-year-old is likely to depart Elland Road on loan before the transfer window shuts. However, a permanent exit isn’t totally impossible.

Non-league side Stockport are reportedly now in the running for the Whites youngster.

The report says that Salford City and Oldham Athletic are keen on the Englishman. Also, Scottish club Motherwell have been keeping an eye on him.

Gotts has played three first-team games for Leeds, but it looks like he’s still a way off the senior plans of manager Marcelo Bielsa.

He’s an extremely versatile player that has gone from a right-back to a midfielder. He was used in numerous midfield positions during the second half of last season during a loan with Salford.

Robbie Gotts taking backwards step with non-league club

For Gotts, his priority in any loan deal has to be to play regularly.

Stockport are a team that may compete for promotion in their division and you’d expect him to get in their XI. However, performing in the fifth-tier of English football is hardly something that is going to make him standout among Leeds’ loan players.

He impressed in League Two last season, so at the very least needs a loan at that level of football.

His versatility makes him very attractive for the current Leeds system, so he just needs to keep progressing.
