Report: Club CEO preparing Man City raid for ‘incredibly focused’ star Tottenham admire
Roma CEO Tiago Pinto is preparing to raid Man City in the transfer window for Nathan Ake, according to .
Pinto is assessing all available options that will see Ake move to the Stadio Olimpico for Jose Mourinho’s first season at the helm. Roma parted with Paulo Fonseca after missing out on a European berth with the worst defensive record Serie A sides.
Roma finished the campaign 29 points behind champions Inter Milan and with a 15-point deficit to the Europa League places. They hope Ake will help to bridge the gap next season after considering a raft of centre-back options.

But he struggled to feature regularly for Pep Guardiola following the arrival of Ruben Dias and resurgence of John Stones. Injuries also held Ake to start just Premier League appearances during his debut season at Man City.
Ake could now depart the Etihad for Roma, although Tottenham also admire the international (). Manchester United are also monitoring the centre-half () as they draw up a shortlist of potential targets.
TBR’s view: Man City should keep Ake amid Roma interest
Ake was forced to play a bit-part role last season, but Man City should not cash-in amid interest from Roma. The defender can still have a big say in how Guardiola shapes his defence next term, providing he stays fit.
Guardiola lauded Ake for his display against Crystal Palace in May, in what was only his second start since December. He said, via the : “A perfect performance, defensively always incredibly focused, defended the box with his life.”
Ake can deliver a string of displays to that standard if he remains at Man City for next season. Rather than parting with the sought-after 26-year-old, especially on loan, after just a year.
