Report: Club Brugge hoping to sign Rangers target Ryan Kent from Liverpool

Rangers’ hopes of signing Ryan Kent before tonight’s deadline are slipping away. , Club Brugge have now entered the race to sign the Liverpool winger.

Kent spent last season on loan at Rangers, scoring six goals and providing nine assists. Steven Gerrard has been trying to lure Kent back to Ibrox on another loan deal this summer. But Liverpool want to sell him instead.

Liverpool are demanding £7m for the 22-year-old but this is too steep for Rangers. Gerrard seems resigned to missing out on Kent unless there is a late change of heart by Liverpool.

But any hint that Liverpool might allow Kent to leave on loan in a last-minute deal could be dashed by Club Brugge. The Belgian side, who are playing Champions League football this season, want to sign the Englishman.

Club Brugge and Liverpool are locked in discussions over a potential deal for Kent. Liverpool are still looking to offload Kent on a permanent deal so they will wait for Club Brugge to match the £7m asking price.

TBR’s view

If Kent does not make a move before today’s deadline, then he might get stranded at Liverpool. He has already been omitted from the U23 squad recently and first-team chances are slim.

Rangers was the ideal move for Kent. He is settled there, he understands Gerrard’s system and the fans love him. But this looks increasingly unlikely. A move to Club Brugge could be interesting for his career, though.
