Report claims Spurs could loan Joe Rodon out next season; 12 Premier League appearances last season

In a move that would surely surprise many, Spurs could potentially loan Joe Rodon out during the transfer window, .

Rodon has had a mixed time since arriving in North London last year. The 23-year-old often looked impressive when he was given a chance.

However, he struggled to hold down a place in the team. His longest run of successive Premier League starts was just four.

And when Ryan Mason took interim charge, Rodon was barely involved. In fact, he was left out of the squad on five occasions. He only returned for the final day where he came on for the final moments.

Nevertheless, with plenty of changes on the horizon at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there seemed to be a good opportunity for Rodon to potentially establish himself as a key man moving forward.

Spurs’ defence is in need of improvement. And with a new manager coming in, Rodon may have set his sights on quickly establishing himself as an important part of the side.

However, it may be that he actually spends next season away from Hotspur Way.

Spurs must keep Joe Rodon amid loan reports, unless Paratici has something special up his sleeve

Constructing a pecking order of Spurs’ current centre-back options is difficult.

Obviously, Toby Alderweireld has been an amazing servant for Tottenham. And Rodon looks to have a bright future ahead.

Nevertheless, none of the players arguably stamped their authority on a place in the side last season.

So loaning Rodon out this summer would arguably be a poor move – unless Fabio Paratici has something special lined up.

It was claimed this week that Tottenham are in talks to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu.

If he ends up being the first signing of many, then perhaps loaning Rodon out may make more sense.
