Report claims Newcastle United want Xherdan Shaqiri, contact made
Newcastle United are reportedly keen on a move to sign Xherdan Shaqiri this summer,
The Switzerland international has struggled for first-team football at Liverpool this season and it is believed he could be sold in order for the Reds to facilitate their own transfer business this summer.
Newcastle, however, are set to be one of the summer’s bigger spenders once a £300 million Saudi-backed takeover is completed at St James’ Park.
Shaqiri has now emerged as a potential transfer option. The report claims that Newcastle have made initial contact with the Swiss star’s representatives regarding a move and that Liverpool will not stand in Shaqiri’s way should an appropriate offer come in.

last month that Liverpool value Shaqiri in the region of £25 million, although the impact of the global health crisis may have reduced that valuation.
Newcastle United fans will no doubt be excited about the prospect of signing the 28-year-old. Shaqiri has a fantastic record against the Magpies, scoring three times in seven games against the club with both Liverpool and Stoke City. He also provided the cross from which Divock Origi scored a last-minute winner in the 3-2 loss at St James’ Park last season.
Hopefully this is a deal Newcastle United can pull off once their takeover is completed, as it looks both a good fit for the club and the player.
