Manchester United are ready to offer Leicester City midfielder Andreas Pereira as part of a deal to sign Harry Maguire. United reportedly hope the inclusion of the Brazilian in any deal could bring down the cost of the transfer. A potential £90 million fee is quoted for the England international.
But why Pereira? Well, according to the report, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of the player. In fact, Celtic’s former boss reportedly wanted to bring the Brazilian midfielder to Glasgow.
that Rodgers ‘tried to take’ the 23-year-old talent to Celtic during his time at Parkhead.

Other than the occasional opinion post online, there are no tangible reports in the past of Celtic making a move for Pereira. It is therefore hard to pinpoint when exactly Celtic might have tried to sign the Belgian-born star.
The 23-year-old has long been heralded as a potential future star at Old Trafford, especially after loan spells at Granada and Valencia.
However, he is yet to establish himself as a playing regular for the Red Devils.
At Celtic, he could have easily become a star and it is a shame that Rodgers might finally be getting him now he is no longer in Glasgow. Maybe, one day, Pereira could still find himself in the green-and-white hoops.
