Report claims Arsenal player could join Matteo Guendouzi in moving to Jorge Sampaoli’s Marseille side

Matteo Guendouzi is reportedly on the verge of completing a permanent move from Arsenal to Marseille this summer – but he might not be alone. French website Foot01 claim that another Arsenal player might join the midfielder in joining Marseille, in the form of veteran defender David Luiz.

that Guendouzi is about to leave permanently and join Marseille for £13million. His time at Arsenal during Mikel Arteta’s reign has been a car crash, being ousted by the Spanish boss after a string of behind-the-scenes incidents regarding his behaviour.

Shipped out to Hertha Berlin on loan, Guendouzi’s return to Arsenal this summer will be short-lived – according to the report. But he might not have to make the journey to Marseille by himself. That is because £120,000-a-week () defender Luiz is a target for Sampaoli, with his exit confirmed.

Marseille is a brilliant move for Arsenal defender Luiz

The Brazilian will leave Arsenal when his contract officially expires on June 30. But at 33, he will still fancy that he has two or three years at the top level. A club like Marseille would be perfect, especially given that Luiz has played in France before with PSG.

It would see him join a club competing for the top four places in one of Europe’s best leagues. While he might not get the pay cheque he gets at Arsenal, it will still be a sizeable one. If Luiz gets an offer from Marseille through the letter box, he should sign on the dotted line.
