Report claims Arsenal have opened talks with Maurizio Sarri

that Arsenal have opened talks with Maurizio Sarri amid doubts over Mikel Arteta’s future at the Emirates.

Arteta is yet to silence all of his doubters. The Gunners do have a chance to reach the Europa League final. But should they fall short, it will certainly be looked back upon as another disappointing season.

And it seems that that may leave the Spaniard battling to keep his job. In fact, Football Italia claim that Arteta is expected to leave in the summer.

The man who could come in to replace him is Sarri. that there is interest in the 62-year-old.

that their interest has moved up a level. They suggest that talks have begun over a potential appointment.

The report also notes that Spurs are also in discussions with Sarri. So it would appear that there may be a good chance that he could end up in North London next season.

TBR View: Arsenal talking with managerial targets already would be a surprise

Admittedly, it does not seem to be out of the question for Arteta to leave this summer. Arsenal are currently ninth in the Premier League table and are only one point closer to Manchester City than Sheffield United.

Winning the Europa League could see the Gunners end the campaign on a high. But there is a big question mark hanging over them reaching the final.

So some may be anticipating that Arteta could leave. But what would be a surprise is if the Gunners are already holding talks with potential candidates to succeed him.

Sarri did not have the best time in the Premier League previously. So there would be an element of risk attached to appointing the Italian – if Arsenal are indeed interested.
