It was reported earlier this week that Leeds were interested in re-signing Vieira. He was, of course, sold during the first window under Marcelo Bielsa as the Whites looked to fund a move for Patrick Bamford.

that he could not see Leeds making a move to bring Vieira back. Obviously, Bielsa will be looking for signings who can hit the ground running in the Premier League. And clearly, the midfielder will need some time to regain full sharpness.

Nevertheless, reports in Italy suggest that a move may be close. that Vieira is ready to pack his bags and seal a return to England. And Leeds are the club apparently closing in on his signature.

Signing Ronaldo Vieira may be worth the gamble for Leeds – as long as deal does not derail any other January business

Vieira was the midfielder that all Leeds fans were raving about when Bielsa arrived. Certainly, many would have, understandably, likely sold Kalvin Phillips if given the choice in 2018.

And it baffled plenty that Leeds let him go. Obviously, the decision has been vindicated. Unfortunately, Vieira has had a tough time in Italy. And Bamford scored the goals to fire Leeds to the Premier League and secure a top-half finish upon their top-flight return.

Bringing Vieira back would clearly be a gamble, particularly with Leeds in a precarious situation. Having said that, reports suggested that his asking price is just £4.25 million.

Clearly, it is hard to believe that a move is as far down the line as reports in Italy would suggest. But if bringing Vieira back has little impact on what else Leeds can do in January, perhaps it may prove to be worth the roll of the dice.

Bielsa working with the Vieira that left Elland Road is a frightening thought.
