Report: Chelsea offering Antonio Rudiger a new deal, amid concerns Tottenham could move
that Chelsea are accelerating talks over extending Antonio Rudiger’s contract at Stamford Bridge, in order to keep the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City at bay.
Rudiger, 26, has played just 45 minutes in his third season at Chelsea, as the Germany international continues to work hard to overcome a long-term groin injury. He remains a key player, despite hardly featuring this season.
The former AS Roma defender has previously clocked up 90 appearances for Chelsea in his first two seasons, following his £34million move from the Serie A giants in the summer of 2017. He has proven he is one of the best defenders in the league.
Rudiger has a contract at Chelsea until the summer of 2022, worth £100,000 a week (). Chelsea, though, are ready to offer the German a new deal in order to fend off potential interest from both Tottenham and Manchester City.

TBR’s view – Rudiger would be a stunning signing for Tottenham and City
Indeed, both clubs need a new centre-back. Manchester City failed to replace Vincent Kompany in the summer, and have since suffered from a defensive crisis following injuries to Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones.
Tottenham, meanwhile, could be about to lose both Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld who are out of contract at the end of the season. Spurs would be left with just Juan Foyth, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier.
