Celtic are facing a battle to keep hold of one of their best players this summer with one of Europe’s big boys keen on doing business.
The Bhoys are going into the summer fresh off of winning yet another SPFL title and Brendan Rodgers is expecting there to be interest in a number of his players.
Celtic had some standout performers throughout the season.
The likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah later in the season caught the eye, while further back, Cameron Carter-Vickers was once again solid.
However, no Celtic player stood out more than midfielder Matt O’Riley. And according to reports from Spain, Atletico Madrid are pushing again to sign him.

Atletico Madrid back in to sign Celtic’s Matt O’Riley
According to , Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are looking into doing a deal for O’Riley again after showing initial interest in January.
O’Riley was a huge hit for Celtic last season, scoring 18 goals and becoming the key man in midfield for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Naturally though, that form comes with catching the eye and it looks like Atletico could make their move.
The report from MD suggests that Celtic will be more open to negotiations this summer after initially telling the La Liga side they didn’t want to part ways in January.
O’Riley is valued at at least by Celtic and recent reports have suggested Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on the midfielder.
Celtic need to get big money if they sell O’Riley
That £25m figure mentioned is a big chunk of change for Celtic but is there a chance they could get even more?
With Atletico and Tottenham apparently keen, there’s a chance for Celtic to start a little bit of a bidding war here and ensure they get proper value for their ‘world-class’ star.
O’Riley has clearly shown he can play at a higher level and that’s not to disrespect Celtic, but there are tougher tests out there for him.
If Atletico are serious, then they’ll pay the money. Celtic, then, could have a job on their hands keeping their star man but with big money on the table, it could be a deal worth doing.
