Report: Celtic make enquiry for £3m-rated Scottish Premiership star

that Celtic have made the first move in their bid to sign Motherwell sensation David Turnbull this summer, by enquiring to land the midfielder.

The 19-year-old has stunned fans this season after breaking into Stephen Robinson’s side, scoring 16 goals and creating seven assists in just 34 league and cup appearances from the middle of the park.

Turnbull, who has been called up by Scotland manager Steve Clarke, has quickly established himself as one of the best teenage talents to come out of Scottish football in recent years.

Now, Celtic have opened negotiations to sign Turnbull this summer with the Fir Park club. But they are not alone, with nine other potential bidders having joined the Scottish champions in making enquiries.

Premier League trio Brighton. Burnley and Southampton are also said to be circling, while Championship side Bristol City are another side interested in Turnbull’s services. He has two years left on his current deal.

TBR’s view

Turnbull’s stats are impressive. Considering he broke into the Motherwell side this season, to score so many goals from midfield for Robinson’s side is quite spectacular.

For just £3million, Turnbull has enormous potential and could easily become a Celtic player in the future. A long-term successor for Scott Brown could certainly be on the cards.

The worry for Celtic is that Turnbull’s form has not been missed by Premier League teams. The lure of England’s top flight has outdone Celtic in the past, and the Hoops will be hoping that is not the case this summer.
