Report: Celtic-linked manager wants a whopping £75k-a-week, Turkish club interested

that out-of-work manager Lucien Favre is looking for a similar wage to the one he picked up at Borussia Dortmund – amid interest from Fenerbahce, while Celtic have also been linked with the Swiss boss.

Favre, 63, has enormous experience in management – spending eight years in the Bundesliga with three different clubs. Four of those came at Borussia Monchengladbach, while he spent two at Dortmund and Hertha Berlin. He has also managed Nice.

Recently replaced at Dortmund, Favre is looking for a new club and – – Favre is interested in taking over at Parkhead – with Celtic yet to replace Neil Lennon. Eddie Howe remains the obvious option, and most linked.

The latest report claims Miliyet state that Favre wants £75,000 a week, the same wages he earned at Dortmund – with Fenerbahce are also looking to hire him. Certainly, Celtic are unlikely to consider him if he is indeed requesting that figure.

TBR’s view – Favre is too expensive for Celtic

Such a wage is ridiculous. The Hoops current wage budget is probably at its highest at around half the figure Favre wants. Is he worth such a wage – given Celtic will not be able to afford him? Certainly not. Howe is a young, better, cheaper option.

Howe offers Celtic ambition, man management and knows these shores – even if Scottish football is different to English football. For Favre, he would be stepping into the unknown in Britain, having really only impressed in France, Germany and Switzerland.

Howe is better, financially and on the training ground.
