Report: Celtic interested in English Championship midfielder Liam Shaw
that Celtic are interested in raiding Sheffield Wednesday for teenage midfielder Liam Shaw after the talented youngster broke into Wednesday’s side on a regular basis this season.
Shaw, 19, made his debut last term but of his 14 first-team outings for Wednesday, 12 have come this season – featuring in Wednesday’s last eight Championship matches. He can play at centre-back, or in central midfield.
His contract at Wednesday, though, is about to run out and Celtic are looking to take advantage of that. As a non-English side, they can nab Shaw on a pre-contract agreement – a move which will see him join on a free, and leave Wednesday in the summer.
English clubs are unable to pull off such a move until after the season finishes, giving Celtic the upper hand in talks. The Hoops have also been linked with other Championship stars including Preston duo Ben Davies and Ben Pearson.

TBR’s view – Summer overhaul expected at Celtic
Indeed, 10 in a row is basically over – with Rangers sitting so far ahead it is near-impossible for Celtic to catch Steven Gerrard’s side. It means players are likely to leave in the summer, and an overhaul is expected – including the management.
Numerous players could leave – with Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer, Olivier Ntcham, Jeremie Frimpong and more linked with other clubs. Celtic will have to replace them, and Shaw could be ideal. His versatility might be just what Celtic need.
Certainly, they are light at centre-back with Ajer potentially leaving and Shane Duffy only on loan – while he could also provide cover for an ageing Scott Brown. On a free, Shaw is a solid addition.
