Report: Celtic have shown interest in Brighton’s Solly March this summer

Celtic are one of the sides who have been keen on Brighton and Hove Albion player Solly March this summer, that RB Leipzig are the only side to maintain an active interest at this stage.

The 26-year-old has made an outstanding start to the campaign with the Seagulls. He has scored once for Graham Potter’s side, and produced some superb performances, including one against Manchester United at the weekend.

March’s form may have come as a surprise to some. But it appears that a number of clubs were well aware of what the midfielder could do.

that Leipzig are preparing a bid for March. Meanwhile, it is also suggested that West Ham United have made an enquiry this summer, while Everton and Wolves have also shown interest.

And the report adds that Neil Lennon’s side also had March on their radar.

It does appear that March may be about to enjoy his best top flight season to date. So it would have been a fantastic piece of business had Celtic signed him before the season.

He did only start 11 league games last term. So perhaps he may have been available for a reasonable fee. However, his wages – worth £30,000-a-week, – would have obviously provided a stumbling block.

And with March making a superb start to the season and Leipzig now reportedly eyeing a move, it seems difficult to envisage Celtic returning to the race before the deadline passes.
