Report: Celtic and Rangers interested in Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi

, the Old Firm clubs are prepared to compete for the signature of Awoniyi.

It is understood that they are leading the chase for him amid Premier League interest and he could cost more than £5million, with the Merseyside outfit considering his sale.

The report explains that the Nigerian forward hasn’t played for Liverpool due to problems with a work permit, but regular minutes this campaign with Union Berlin could help resolve that issue.

TBR’s View:

Awoniyi has been on the books with Liverpool since 2015, but has had to develop out on several different loans.

His current spell at Union Berlin is going well, as his team are sat fifth in the Bundesliga table hunting down a Champions League position.

The young striker has scored five goals in 14 appearances so far this season in all competitions and three of them have come in his last four league games during a great run of form.

He’s now getting an opportunity to lead the line regularly in the German top-flight, which is why he’s an exciting forward that is an intriguing target for both Celtic and Rangers.
