Report: Castellon could make fresh bid for Leeds star Pablo Hernandez this summer

Leeds United may receive a fresh approach for Pablo Hernandez in the summer, that Castellon are hopeful that they may be able to tempt the playmaker to make a move.

It seems to have been a difficult season for Hernandez. He made his 10th Premier League appearance of the campaign on Wednesday as Leeds hosted Everton.

However, he has made just two starts since Marcelo Bielsa’s side sealed promotion. And given the 35-year-old’s age, you could understand why Leeds supporters may be concerned about what the future holds for the Spaniard.

According to The Athletic, Castellon made an ambitious enquiry for Hernandez in January.

The Athletic notes that Leeds did not consider letting Hernandez leave last month. However, Castellon seem to be preparing a fresh attempt to sign the attacking midfielder in the summer.

, Castellon are keen to make another move for Hernandez at the end of the season. And interestingly, they are hopeful that he can be tempted to make the switch.

Leeds will surely welcome the chance to keep Hernandez for the final year of his contract. However, perhaps it would not be a surprise if they left a final decision on his future to the player himself.

Arguably, no player has made a bigger contribution to the club over the last five years. And as The Athletic notes, his goal against Swansea last season is always likely to be reflected upon as the pivotal moment in getting Leeds across the line in the promotion race.

So with Hernandez – who earns £19,000-a-week, – no longer enjoying regular game-time, Leeds may feel that he has more than earned the right to decide whether he stays or goes should Castellon come calling again.
