Report: Carlos Vinicius keen for Spurs stay, but Mendes suggests he joins Wolves

Carlos Vinicius is keen to remain at Tottenham Hotspur next season, that Jorge Mendes has advised him to join Wolves this summer.

Vinicius’s future looks set to be a talking point throughout the coming months. He has shown glimpses of his quality while on loan at Spurs. However, he has struggled for game-time.

His lack of minutes have prompted Tottenham to decide against triggering the £36 million option to make his move permanent.

that Spurs have not ruled out trying to sign him for a lower price. However, they could face competition for his signature.

The report notes that Wolves have made contact with Benfica about a potential move. But there is some distance between the two clubs’ valuations, with Wolves not prepared to pay more than £26 million, while Benfica want £39 million.

Interestingly, it appears that Vinicius may be torn about his future. The Daily Mail claims that he would prefer to stay in North London.

However, he has been told by Mendes that he would be better off at Molineux.

TBR View: Either move could be gamble for Vinicius

Vinicius would have been aware that he always faced an uphill getting regular minutes with Spurs with Harry Kane as his teammate.

With that in mind, you could understand if the Brazilian was reluctant about staying at Tottenham if offered the chance.

However, he may not be in a considerably better position at Wolves either. Raul Jimenez has been an outstanding player for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

And if he impresses upon his return from injury, Vinicius may find himself acting as an understudy once again.

So either move could perhaps be looked at as a potential risk for the striker.
