Report: Calvin Miller linked with Celtic exit as Neil Lennon eyes defensive reinforcements

Celtic defender Calvin Miller could be on his way out this summer. , Portsmouth are interested in signing Miller from Celtic before next week’s deadline.

The report does not specify whether this deal would be a permanent transfer or a temporary arrangement. But it appears that Miller does not have an immediate future at Celtic under Neil Lennon.

Celtic are trying to land a new left-back before the transfer window shuts. Kieran Tierney left and joined Arsenal and Lennon does not appear to have complete faith in Boli Bolingoli yet.

that Celtic will now walk away from a deal for Kilmarnock’s Greg Taylor because the Scottish Premiership side want £3m. Rosenborg defender Birger Melling is an alternative option but his future hinges on tonight’s Champions League game – the Norwegian side are 2-0 down after the first leg.

The arrival of a new left-back could seal Miller’s Celtic exit. The 21-year-old, who can also play on the wing, has only ever played five senior games for Celtic. After loan stints with Dundee and Ayr United, he could set for a third temporary exit or even a permanent one.

TBR’s view

Portsmouth could offer Miller a fresh chance and a route to the first-team. Lee Brown has been out of form for Pompey and Brandon Haunstrup is still young so Miller would add another option at left-back.

The Scotland U21 international is unlikely to get much game time at Celtic this season and needs to move – either on loan or permanently – for the sake of his career.
