Report: Brighton to step up Nat Phillips interest
Brighton have identified Liverpool defender Nat Phillips as the leading candidate to replace Ben White as he nears his £50 million switch, .
White is set to join Arsenal. As noted by The Athletic, the £50 million fee looks to make sense for all parties. Unsurprisingly, for Brighton’s biggest sale.

And the Seagulls now plan to step up their interest in Phillips. It is claimed that he is their top target to bring in once White seals his move to North London.
that Phillips will cost less than a third of the fee that will take White to the Emirates. They report that the Reds are willing to let the 24-year-old leave.

However, they also suggest that Phillips is attracting attention from some of Brighton’s Premier League rivals.
Brighton target Nat Phillips earned chance to consider Premier League move with outstanding form for Liverpool last season
Phillips certainly benefitted from a turbulent season for Jurgen Klopp’s side. He was one player who certainly stepped up as the Reds dealt with a scarcely-believable number of injuries at centre-back.
In fact, some fans felt that he had done enough to keep himself in the mix when Klopp had the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez back.
His performance at Burnley last season, for example, was widely lauded by supporters. Some felt that playing alongside van Dijk would see his game move to the next level.
Of course, Liverpool have signed Ibrahima Konate. And Joel Matip is another who is, hopefully, back in contention.
So letting Phillips go probably makes sense for all parties. Konate looks to have a scary amount of potential.
Last summer, the idea of Phillips replacing a £50 million player at a Premier League rival probably would have surely seemed baffling to many.
But it is now fair to say that few will be surprised if he does get an eight-figure move in this window.
