According to , Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is attracting interest from Bundesliga side Greuther Furth ahead of the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old German joined the Reds with the dream of being the number one at Anfield. However, things just haven’t gone his way, especially since that heartbreaking night against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Right after Karius’ mistake on the biggest stage in European football, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp decided he wanted a new goalkeeper. In came Alisson for a mammoth fee and that all but ended the German shot-stopper’s Liverpool career.

Karius has had a couple of loan spells since that night in Kyiv, but a permanent move away hasn’t been possible. There’s a chance now!

Loris Karius could leave Liverpool for Greuther Furth in January

The report claims that Greuther Furth, who are at the bottom of the Bundesliga at the moment, are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper. Their number one, Marius Funk, suffered a serious knee injury recently and he is expected to spend a while on the sidelines.

Furth have won just once in Bundesliga all season and have picked up just four points out of a possible 45. They looked destined for relegation, which makes it difficult for them to attract top-quality players on long-term contracts.

As a result, they are looking at short-term options and Karius is reportedly on top of their list ahead of next month’s window.

Budesliga side’s manager responds to rumours

The bottom-placed Bundesliga side’s boss, Stefan Leitl, was quizzed about rumours linking his club with a move for Karius next month.

He told : “He’s undoubtedly a very, very good goalkeeper, but I’m not involved in names or speculations.”

A move to Furth, where he will be guaranteed regular game time until the end of the season, would be ideal for Karius. His confidence is rock bottom at the moment and the only thing that could help him get back to his best is a new challenge and a change of scenery.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. Karius only has six months left on his Liverpool contract and he is currently the fourth-choice at the club behind Alisson, Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher. He won’t play again for the Reds, which makes a move away perfect for all parties.
