He is yet to feature in the Premier League. Nketiah has however, made an impact in the Carabao Cup, scoring in the last two rounds of the competition.

Nevertheless, it appears that he could be on the move when the January window opens.

that the Bundesliga side want the striker. And they can discuss a pre-contract deal with Nketiah with his deal up in the summer.

That may force Arsenal’s hand. The report notes that the Gunners may have to accept a low offer for the forward when the winter window opens.

For his part, Nketiah has reportedly made it clear that he wants to leave.

Arsenal better off selling Nketiah than signing him to new contract amid Borussia Monchengladbach interest

On the one hand, you can understand why Arsenal want to agree fresh terms with Nketiah. A deal would ensure that they could command a greater fee for the youngster.

However, the academy graduate, unfortunately, does not appear to be a player who can really make the grade at the Emirates.

He has not kicked on over the last couple of years, with just 15 goals in 67 games in all competitions.

Certainly, he has a lot of potential. He is England’s record goalscorer at under-21 level.

But selling him to Monchengladbach may actually make a lot of sense.

Arsenal would receive some sort of fee for the player. And they would not be letting him join a Premier League rival.

There is a risk to signing him to a new contract. For example, no team seemingly wanted to meet his asking price in the summer.

So if Gladbach come calling in January, the time may be right for Arsenal to let him leave.
