Report: Borussia Dortmund eye move to sign Arsenal player, but he has agreement elsewhere

that Borussia Dortmund are in talks to sign Matteo Guendouzi this summer, after a loan at Hertha Berlin. The French midfielder is expected to join Jorge Sampaoli’s Marseille side – but Dortmund have now emerged as a contender as they look for a midfielder.

Guendouzi, 22, moved to Hertha Berlin on loan last summer and did well in the Bundesliga. However, he has seemingly not done enough to break back into Arsenal’s side, and a £13million move to Marseille is expected. That is according to , who say an agreement is in place.

However, there could now be a spanner in the works. Dortmund have joined the race to sign Guendouzi this summer. The German side may have to sell some midfielders with Mahmoud Dahoud, Axel Witsel and Thomas Delaney all in the last year of their contracts. Guendouzi could come in.

Which club suits Arsenal player Guendouzi more – Dortmund or Marseille?

Dortmund managed to qualify for the Champions League, whereas Marseille are in the Europa League next season. But Guendouzi, who has recently become a father, would surely prefer to be in his natural environment of France. A move to Marseille would also see him start.

At Dortmund, he might not start initially given the amount of bodies in the middle of the park. It saw Julian Weigl move to Benfica. If he has the choice of both, Guendouzi should join Marseille.
