Report: Bolton, Fleetwood and Portsmouth want Graham Dorrans after his Rangers exit

Three English clubs are chasing Graham Dorrans after his Rangers release. , Bolton Wanderers, Fleetwood Town and Portsmouth are among the clubs who would like to sign Dorrans on a free transfer.

Rangers released the 32-year-old midfielder on deadline day to allow him to move clubs. Dorrans has struggled with injuries during his two-year stay at Ibrox and has been limited to less than 25 appearances.

Kilmarnock were pushing to sign Dorrans but wanted to land him on loan with Rangers subsiding some of his wages. Now that he is a free agent, Killie cannot afford to bring him to Rugby Park due to his wage demands.

The 12-cap Scotland international could be set for a return to England. He spent nine years in England, representing West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City. Now, Dorrans could be moving to League One.

Fleetwood, who are managed by ex-Rangers midfielder Joey Barton, want to sign Dorrans. But they face competition from Bolton and Portsmouth for this bargain transfer.

TBR’s view

Dorrans has three interesting projects lined up if he fancies returning to England. At Bolton, he faces the uphill task of keeping his side up. Bolton started the season on minus 12 points but have since been taken over and they signed nine players on deadline day.

Portsmouth will be gunning for promotion after their play-off loss, while Fleetwood aim to break into the top six. Dorrans would be Jason Holt’s replacement at Fleetwood; he spent last season on loan with Barton’s men.
