Arsenal have been linked with the Brazil international for a little while now. And the Evening Standard suggests that the Gunners do indeed want the 24-year-old.

However, they are not the only Premier League side eyeing a move. that both Everton and Newcastle have been monitoring him.

Lyon are likely to demand around £40 million for Guimaraes. But they are apparently hoping to keep him in Ligue 1 for the rest of the season. It is noted however, that they are not in the best financial position.

Arsenal must be favourites for Bruno Guimaraes despite Everton and Newcastle interest

Guimaraes certainly looks to have the potential to be a huge success in the Premier League. Only four players have won more tackles in Ligue 1 than him, .

But he is also able to make an impact further forward. He has provided five assists in the top-flight and Europa League. And no Lyon player has made a greater number of key passes this term ().

He would be an exciting signing for any of his admirers. But it would certainly appear that Arsenal are in the strongest position.

There is an opportunity for a new signing to stamp their authority on a place in the Gunners midfield. And clearly, they are the side who are most likely to be able to offer European football next term.
