Report: Bayern could derail one Everton transfer; contact already made

Everton could be hit with a blow in the transfer market, as Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on Netherlands star, Denzel Dumfries.

Dumfries, 25, has been one of the stars of the Euros so far. His excellent performances for the Dutch have caught the eye, and followed on perfectly from his fine season with PSV.

It was reported two weeks back that Everton were in the mix to land Dumfries. A £13m bid was said to be being considered, although no move has been made as yet.

But now, in what is bad news for the Toffees, Bayern Munich could step in to ruin the party for Marcel Brands. That’s according to , who claim Julian Nagelsmann is keen on the Dutch defender.

Dumfries, who has 25 caps for Holland already, predominantly plays as a right-back but can push further on if needed. It is expected, too, that his Euros displays will see that reported £13m asking-price increase a lot.

Everton remain without a manager but continue to work behind the scenes on identifying players. Dumfries, it seems, is among a number of players at the Euros impressing onlooking Premier League clubs.

Dumfries ideal for Everton but Bayern will be hard to turn down

This is the nightmare scenario for the Toffees. They spot a player who goes below the radar a bit and then from nowhere, one of the big boys comes in.

Unfortunately, unless Dumfries has his heart on playing in England, then competing with Bayern is going to be a tough ask.

Not only are they are a giant of the game. But they can also offer regular European football and regular trophies. Plus, the chance to work with one of the game’s most exciting young managers.

For Everton, it would take a stroke of luck or a big name manager coming into alter that course.
