Report: Barnsley looking to sign third Leeds player this summer
that newly-promoted Championship side Barnsley are looking to raid Leeds United for a third time this summer for left-back Tom Pearce.
Daniel Stendel’s side have already completed deals for Mallik Wilks and Aapo Halme. Wilks starred for Doncaster last season, scoring 16 goals and laying on another 12 assists in League One.
He completed a permanent deal earlier this summer, signing a four-year contract before Finnish colossus Halme did the same. Halme did feature in the Leeds senior side last season, but Marcelo Bielsa has decided to get rid.
Now, Barnsley could add another Leeds player to their squad this summer as they look to avoid an immediate relegation back to League One. They are looking to sign England youth international Pearce.
Pearce, 21, is way down the pecking order behind Gjanni Alioski, Barry Douglas and Leif Davis. Stuart Dallas and Gaetano Berardi are also likely to be preferred to Pearce, who has managed just 10 appearances for the Whites.

TBR’s view – Pearce not good enough for Leeds
Despite plenty of signs of promise for Pearce, the defender is simply too lightweight and needs to move clubs in order to get his career back on track – after first promising under Paul Heckingbottom.
But since then, much like Tyler Denton, Pearce has struggled to get game time and when he has been given a chance, he has struggled. Even on loan at Scunthorpe last season, Pearce failed to get any momentum going.
Letting him leave on a permanent basis is the best move for all parties involved.
