Raphinha’s performance and celebrations at Brentford will live long in Leeds fans’ memories. He won and scored the penalty that set Jesse Marsch’s side on their way to a monumental victory.
It was clear just what his goal meant to the Brazilian. Certainly, any doubts over his motivation were emphatically put to bed.
Raphinha was one player who would have immediately moved on had Leeds gone down. Reports have claimed that he has agreed a five-year deal with Barcelona ahead of next season.
And had the Whites been relegated, a clause would have been active that would have allowed the 25-year-old to leave for just £21 million.
His reaction to Leeds’ survival has just provided the slightest glimmer of hope that he could yet stay for another year. But clearly, it is looking most likely that he will move on.
Obviously, if he is going to go, Leeds fans will want the club to make as much as possible from his sale. But Barcelona have other ideas, it seems.
