Report: Barcelona really regret selling £13m player, now Tottenham want to sign him in January

Tottenham are now among the clubs keen on a swoop for Joan Gonzalez from Serie A outfit Lecce

Italian outlet claim that Spurs, as well as Borussia Dortmund, Everton and West Ham are keen on the 20-year-old midfielder.

During his youth days, he moved from Barcelona to Lecce and the report says the La Liga giants regret letting him leave for nothing.

He is now worth 15 million euros (£13 million) and Lecce are agreeable to a sale, potentially during the summer transfer window.

Juventus are also keen on the midfielder, which means that Antonio Conte could be set for a transfer tussle with his old club.

The asking price looks affordable for Spurs, but Conte will likely want any January arrivals to be able to come in and make an instant impact.

Spurs did sign Destiny Udogie from Serie A club Udinese and then loaned him back out and perhaps a similar situation could occur here.

But it does not look like the kind of deal which is going to make the immediate difference in the top four race like Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur did last January.

Of course there is the potential for a transfer battle between Spurs and their bitter rivals West Ham too, with David Moyes’ men struggling slightly in the league right now.

It remains to be seen whose interest is most serious, with Dortmund of course notoriously a great breeding ground for young players.
