Barcelona now know Leeds United want at least £47 million for Raphinha, that they plan to back away and not make a bid should Ousmane Dembele decide to stay at the Nou Camp.
For some time, it appeared to be a matter of time before Raphinha joined Barcelona. Of course, Leeds would have been powerless had they been relegated. That would have activated a release clause worth £21 million.
However, Leeds stayed up – with Raphinha playing a key role in survival. And with that, the Whites are now able to dig their heels in and demand a much more reasonable price.
Reports bizarrely claimed that Barca still hoped to pay little more than £21 million for Raphinha. But Leeds have made it clear that that is not the case.

Leeds fans will be a little happier about the prospect of getting £47 million for Raphinha. In truth, many will believe that they should still hold out for even more.
But clearly, the Whites are in no mood to be bullied by Barcelona. So that is a positive sign.
Raphinha is an ‘‘ player. And if Leeds are going to lose him, they need to have the funds to be able to replace him.
A fee of £47 million is going to go a lot further towards that. But it is also low enough – for a player of his quality – that Raphinha can hardly be upset with Leeds if Barcelona ultimately back away.
