Report: Aston Villa’s Conor Hourihane attracting Middlesbrough interest
Aston Villa midfielder, Conor Hourihane, has a new admirer in the race for his signature, with claiming Middlesbrough are now keen on Irishman.
The report claims that Boro and manager Neil Warnock are keen on Hourihane, and are looking to beat Swansea to his signing if they can during the January window.

Hourihane has dropped down the pecking order somewhat with the Villans but is still seen as a highly-effective midfielder, especially at Championship level where he spent most of his career.
The form of Villa and midfield of the likes of McGinn, Luiz, and Grealish, has ensured chances have been somewhat limited for the 29-year-old. However, Boro could offer him a temporary lifeline and are chasing promotion themselves.

Dean Smith has previously praised Hourihane, he does ‘unseen’ work in the Villa team. For Neil Warnock, that is exactly the sort of player who he thrives on managing.
TBR View: Good squad player, Hourihane would be quite the capture for Boro
Up until recently Hourihane was a key player for Villa, so it seemed unlikely he’d be moved on. But teams in the Championship are always on the lookout at this time of year and he is a player of interest.
Experience, quality, and success under his belt at that level means he is a no-brainer for a team like Boro. Warnock would love to sign him as well, knowing what he’d bring to the cause.
It’s a tricky call for Dean Smith, though, who will be conscious of trimming his squad.
