Report: Aston Villa wanted Real Madrid wonderkid on loan, will join La Liga club
Aston Villa have seen an audacious attempt to sign Real Madrid youngster Takefusa Kuba on loan knocked back by the Spanish champions.
, Kubo was fancied by Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, PSG and Villa and is now set to sign for a club on loan.
Osasuna, Villarreal, Celta Vigo and Granada are among the favourites and the team who offers the most first-team football will land the player.
Villa boss Dean Smith will now try and turn his attention towards another winger to bolster his squad.
Kuba could have been a tremendous addition to the Villa squad, with the Madrid player deemed a genuine wonderkid.
The 19-year-old cost Los Blancos from FC Tokyo and has been hailed as the ‘Japanese Messi’ .
A skilful winger capable of playing on both sides, or as a makeshift No.10, he made 35 appearances for Real Mallorca on loan last season.
Kuba will clearly benefit from the first-team experience and his four goals and five assists offered a glimpse of what’s to come in the future.
It seems as though that man with seven caps for Japan is set to head out on loan once more next season and an announcement over which club have won the race looks forthcoming.
Kuba is still awaiting his first appearance for Real Madrid but his potential holds no limits.
Villa will go in search of quality this summer having secured their Premier League status with a 1-1 draw on the final day of last season.

Kuba would have undoubtedly been an ambitious signing by Smith, albeit a short-term one.
Last summer, Villa chose quantity over quality and it nearly bit them on the backside and cost them their place in the top-flight.
With that in mind, the club will probably priorities one or two top signings, with a couple of stellar loans perhaps thrown in for good measure.
Kuba would of course been an unknown quantity but signing a Real Madrid wonderkid on loan could have proved a quality piece of business.
