Report: Aston Villa want Grady Diangana as West Brom move edges closer

Aston Villa are one of the teams who may be about to miss out on Grady Diangana, that Dean Smith’s men are keen on the West Ham United forward.

Diangana appears to be edging closer to a move to West Bromwich Albion. The Daily Mail reports that the Baggies have had a bid accepted that could ultimately net the Hammers £20 million.

And the Mail has suggested that Slaven Bilic’s side are hoping to tie up personal terms quickly to ensure one of his other admirers cannot attempt to scupper their bid.

TBR View: Villa should make last-ditch bid for Diangana

It does appear that West Brom are comfortably in pole position. Not only have they had a bid accepted, but they have the advantage of having had the 22-year-old at the Hawthorns on loan last season.

Nevertheless, Villa should seriously consider making a last-ditch bid for him. He scored eight goals and provided six assists in the Championship last term.

Smith needs further quality in the final third. And Diangana could be an exciting addition.

It may be too late to prevent the Baggies from securing his signature. But that should perhaps not stop Villa trying.
