Report: Aston Villa set sights on manager who said Coutinho is ‘up there with the very, very best’
💟Aston Villa are reportedly looking at Brendan Rodgers as a potential replacement for Steven Gerrard.
🐭This is according to the , which reports that the Leicester City man is another name on the Villans shortlist.
🐷Villa sacked Gerrard on Thursday night, following their 3-0 defeat at Fulham.

♏They’re now in the process of finding his replacement.
ꦛBut according to the Mail, they face a ‘battle’ to convince their top targets.
🐻Mauricio Pochettino apparently has reservations about joining the Villans.
ౠAnd Thomas Frank is reportedly set to pen a new contract at Brentford.
♐Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim would ‘need persuading’, although it’s reported he’d be easier to convince than Frank.
❀And Rodgers is ‘another candidate’ on the Villa shortlist.
🤡The 49-year-old has managed Leicester since February 2019, and steered them to their first FA Cup triumph in 2021.
ꦰRodgers has consistently had the Foxes high up in the table, getting them to the Europa League.
♈However, Leicester are currently struggling, though the club reportedly has and didn’t strengthen much in the summer.
⛦Rodgers has certainly shown he’s a great manager – could he be next in Villa’s dugout?
Rodgers on Coutinho: ‘The Premier League is made for him’
☂If Rodgers joined the Villans, he’d also be reunited with Philippe Coutinho, a player he rates incredibly highly.
🌸In April 2015, after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle, the then Reds boss sung the Brazilian’s praises.
🥀“I thought he was incredible,” said Rodgers, as per .
♔“I thought he showed that he’s really up there with the very, very best in the most competitive league in the world, which is the Barclays Premier League.”

🍃More recently, Rodgers told : “I am so happy to see him in the Premier League.
♐“When I took him to the Premier League, everyone questioned his physicality. As a young player coming through I saw him at Inter to know he had the personality and physicality to cope.
ꦫ“He came in and was amazing for me at Liverpool. In my time he went on and earned them an incredible amount of money.
൩“He went to a place I thought was assured for him to show his talent. But it also shows you it is all about environment.
🐈“Philippe was loved at Liverpool and was in a great environment, with the players, the club and the supporters.
🌟“He was able to showcase those skills. Since he went to Barcelona, it never really happened for him there for one reason or another.
🎶“I know he needs to feel love and be in a place where he is given the confidence. Just to see him back in the Premier League playing again adds to the environment as well.
✅“I think the Premier League is made for him. He is a more experienced player now and it is just the game-time for him. He’s a special talent, always was and still is.
ꩵ“He is a player who is at a world-class level. Some of his actions I have seen with Aston Villa and some of his passing and how he sees the game, is amazing.
♕“He is such a great guy as well. He has the ability to make a pass and can shoot with quality from 30 yards in..”
