Report: Aston Villa make loan move for available £50k-a-week speedster at PL rivals

Aston Villa have reportedly made a move to try sign Axel Tuanzebe on loan from Premier League rivals Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has previously had two spells at Villa Park on loan, but the Midlands club are eyeing another reunion.

According to the , Dean Smith’s side have registered interest in trying to sign the available defender.

This comes after Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he thinks the centre-back will leave Old Trafford on loan this summer.

However, says Newcastle United are in pole position for him.

Tuanzebe, who played 19 games last season for Man United, looks likely to chase first-team football elsewhere in the upcoming campaign.

The Englishman is a talented centre-half with speed, power and aggression in his defending. He’s put in a handful of top-class displays in a Man United shirt, but he can’t nail down a starting position.

Tuanzebe would be superb Aston Villa addition

Villa know what they’d be getting in Tuanzebe, someone who can genuinely push current centre-backs Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings.

The Man United player will be returning to familiar surroundings at Villa Park, but a starting role isn’t guaranteed.

Meanwhile, it’s much easier to picture him slotting into the Newcastle XI at St James’ Park.

Villa ran out of steam towards the end of last season, so filling out their squad with players of Tuanzebe’s calibre would be superb business.
