that the 32-year-old could be given the green light to leave the Blues in January. And Aston Villa are weighing up making a move for the former Barcelona man.

Villa have not struggled for goals this season. Despite sitting 17th in the Premier League ahead of their clash with Leicester City, the Villans are the most prolific side outside of the top six.

Nevertheless, they do perhaps lack the depth that Smith would like going forward. Villa do not have many striker options and Pedro can play anywhere across the front line.

It could still be deemed a gamble. that Pedro earns £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, so Villa may perhaps have to be prepared to make a lucrative offer.

But he undoubtedly has the quality to be an inspired signing for Villa should he join the club in January.
