that Aston Villa are now expecting to complete a permanent £5million move to sign winger Anwar El Ghazi from French club Lille OSC.
Despite a difficult start to life at Villa Park, 24-year-old El Ghazi begun to find some momentum after Dean Smith replaced Steve Bruce. He finished the season a hero.
The two-time Netherlands international scored an excellent diving header to put Villa in the lead against Derby County in the Championship play-off final, before his deflected shot caused havoc and John McGinn headed home.
He found the back of the net six times, as well as creating six more �that is despite only finishing 90 minutes 14 times in the Championship this season.
The report claims that Villa are now expecting to complete a permanent deal for El Ghazi, which will see him remain at the club beyond the end of the season. A fee is expected to be in the £5million region.
TBR’s view
For just £5million, landing El Ghazi on a permanent basis is a bargain. Given that Albert Adomah could leave the club this summer as his contract is set to expire, it is crucial El Ghazi stays.
Strong stats at Lille and Ajax in previous spells suggest that is more than equipped for the Premier League. Importantly for Villa, there is plenty of resale value in El Ghazi �especially at £5million.
