Report: Aston Villa and Newcastle learn ‘incredible’ target will cost £50m

Aston Villa and Newcastle United will have to offer £50 million if they hope to convince Brighton to cash in on Yves Bissouma during the January transfer window, .

Bissouma continues to attract a lot of attention having established himself as one of the best midfielders not plying their trade with one of the Premier League’s heavyweights. Graham Potter has previously spoken of his ‘incredible’ potential.

that Newcastle and Villa both wanted the 25-year-old. He is currently away on international duty with Mali. However, both clubs have already made statements in the market, with the signings of Kieran Trippier and Philippe Coutinho respectively.

that the Seagulls wanted £40 million for Bissouma. And with his contract now having less than 18 months left to run, some may have suspected that that asking price could have dropped.

However, that is not the case. that Brighton want £50 million.

The report adds that they feel under little pressure to sell. So that would suggest that any hopes of exploiting his contract situation to secure a cut-price deal have been dashed.

Brighton not out of the woods yet with Newcastle and Aston Villa the ones eyeing Yves Bissouma

Most Premier League clubs tend to limit their spending in January. It is not an easy window to do significant business. And with that, Brighton would usually be able to be confident about keeping Bissouma.

However, Villa and Newcastle are two of the clubs seemingly with the ability to spend big. So it is surely not out of the question for either to make a huge bid for Bissouma – who would become either side’s record signing (via Transfermarkt for and ) – before the deadline passes.
