Report: Aston Villa and Newcastle among teams fighting for Gonzalo Higuain
Aston Villa and Newcastle United are reportedly both interested in signing Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.
new Old Lady manager Andrea Pirlo wants to offload the 32-year-old, and that officials are seeing about terminating his contract.
Speaking in a press conference, Pirlo said (): “But we decided that our paths must be divided. He was a great champion, but the cycles end. He was put aside but as a serious person, we spoke to each other and made this decision.”

Higuain has been with Juve since transferring from Real Madrid in 2016 for a whopping £75.3 million (), which was the third-biggest football transfer ever at the time.
Calciomercato say Villa and Newcastle are now interested in the three-time Serie A winner, as well as West Ham United and Premier League new boys Fulham.
The former Argentina international is known to English football fans after he spent the second half of 2018/19 on loan with Chelsea, where he scored five goals in 18 appearances.
TBR’s View – Higuain a gamble
Although he is a somewhat glamorous-sounding name, the reality is that Higuain is not the goalscoring machine of a few seasons ago.

The star has undeniably had a brilliant, goal-filled career, but his time at Chelsea is difficult to erase from the memory.
He struggled the last time he was in English football, and that was in a team with plenty of creative players like Willian, Pedro and Jorginho.
That all said though if he was to come in for free and on reasonable wages, perhaps it might be worth a gamble for Villa or Newcastle, both of whom desperately need a goalscorer in their ranks.
