It is suggested that with Villa in talks to sign Morgan Sanson, Hourihane – who earns £30,000-a-week, – will be allowed to leave the club during this month.

It will be interesting to see what the long-term future holds for the midfielder. , his contract will have one year to run upon his return to the Villans.

Should Sanson arrive, it is difficult to see Hourihane returning to the fold for next season. Instead, a permanent move away will surely be much more likely.

And should he impress while at the Liberty Stadium, it would be no surprise if there were a number of sides looking to offer him a fresh challenge ahead of next term.
