Report: Arsenal winger could join Matteo Guendouzi at Hertha Berlin in January
Chris Wheatley has claimed that Hertha Berlin wanted to sign Reiss Nelson in the summer and could return over the course of the coming weeks – in a move that would see the Arsenal star team up with Matteo Guendouzi.
Nelson, 21, is one of Arsenal’s young guns knocking on the door for a Premier League start as the senior players falter. His form in the Europa League has been excellent, along with the likes of Joe Willock, Eddie Nketian and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
However, he could potentially have another option if that game time is not forthcoming. Hertha Berlin – who signed Guendouzi in the summer while Omar Rekik went the other way, joining Arsenal’s Under-23 side – were keen on netting Nelson on loan.
Wheatley reckons Hertha could return in January and that may give Nelson food for thought, having been afforded just two appearances in the Premier League. It would see him reunite with Guendouzi, who is impressing for the Bundesliga outfit.
“Hertha Berlin were really interested in Reiss Nelson over the summer,” . “They could revive their interest in January and have a good relationship with Arsenal following the recent Matteo Guendouzi and Omar Rekik deals.”

TBR’s view – Nelson has Bundesliga experience
Certainly, the England Under-21 star impressed during a loan spell at Hoffenheim – scoring seven goals in 29 games. He will know what the Bundesliga is all about and thata brief loan with Hertha could really show Arsenal why he deserves more time.
Under Arteta, the senior players – such as Willian and Nicolas Pepe – continue to get reprieves and that has got to be frustrating for Nelson, who has impressed in Europe. If an offer from Hertha comes in, surely Nelson has to grab it with both hands.
