Report: Arsenal weigh up improving contract offer to Lacazette
Arsenal are considering improving their contract offer to Alexandre Lacazette and putting a longer deal on the table, .
Lacazette’s future still has a major question mark hanging over it. His current terms are up at the end of the season.

Previous reports have claimed that talks have stalled over the length of the deal Lacazette wants at Arsenal.
Paul Merson has suggested that the Gunners must not hand the 30-year-old a new contract. Obviously, he has never been overly prolific during his time in North London. And Arsenal have been burned in the recent past for handing ageing players new contracts.

However, Lacazette has been outstanding for Arsenal this season. He only has three goals in the Premier League. But he has also contributed seven assists, including two against Watford on Sunday. Mikel Arteta labelled him ‘‘ after the win.
He has also handled taking on the captaincy superbly well. And it would appear that Arsenal are weighing up rewarding Lacazette.
that Arsenal are tempted to improve the offer on the table for Lacazette, both in terms of the finances and the length of the deal.
Length of the contract makes Arsenal improving Lacazette contract offer a gamble
Lacazette is proving that he is far from done at the highest level. In fact, he is playing some of the best football of his Arsenal spell this season.
So keeping him on a one-year deal would have made a lot of sense for Arsenal. The Gunners need to sign at least one striker this summer whether Lacazette stays or not. So there is certainly a role for him next season.
However, offering longer terms would make an agreement more of a gamble. The drop-off in performances from the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil after they signed new contracts was remarkable.
Lacazette may not struggle in the same way given the players currently buzzing around him. But it would still be a roll of the dice from Arsenal.
