Report: Arsenal want three new signings in January, 29-year-old ‘likely to leave’
says Arsenal are targeting three new signings in January – with Bernd Leno ‘likely’ to leave soon.
Leno, 29, has been dropped from the starting line-up and in his place, new signing Aaron Ramsdale is shining. Three clean sheets in his four games.
Arsenal spent more than any other Premier League side in the summer. Ben White, Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu and more came in.
A new-look defence has given Arsenal a platform, with White, Ramsdale and Tomiyasu combining against Spurs in Sunday’s North London derby.
But a new report from Chris Wheatley states that Arsenal are not done. They want three new signings in the January window.
Wheatley says Arsenal will look for a defender, a midfielder and with Leno ‘likely’ to leave – a back-up goalkeeper to cover Ramsdale.

“The next positions Arsenal are expected to target are midfield and defence,” Wheatley said, when asked about Arsenal’s January plans.
“A back-up goalkeeper for Aaron Ramsdale once Bernd Leno leaves is likely too,” Wheatley continued. It is unclear where Leno could go in January.
Wheatley on January: What next for Arsenal man Leno?
He needs to go. A player of his experience, his quality, his international hopes, needs to be playing week in, week out. At Arsenal, he is struggling.
The Gunners need a back-up goalkeeper. Ramsdale’s arrival made little sense, but now he is impressing, it could be a transfer masterstroke by Edu.
Leno needs a move. But the goalkeeper is on big wages – A return to Germany is surely his most likely move.
But as stated, the wages could be an issue. It might see Arsenal have to contribute to his wages, until his contract ends in June 2023.
Perhaps even, a loan-to-buy deal to a German side could be on the cards. Time will tell for Leno, but until January, he will be warming the bench.
