Report: Arsenal want Dutch star who Marc Overmars called ‘fantastic’
Arsenal could be set to try and persuade Lyon forward Memphis Depay to return to the Premier League,
The Dutchman endured a relatively unsuccessful time of things at Manchester United but has performed well since leaving Old Trafford.
It looks set to be a busy summer for the Gunners. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have both been linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium.

That would leave Arsenal looking for reinforcements, with Depay seemingly among the potential targets.
Depay scored 14 goals and registered two assists in 18 games during the 2019/20 campaign.
Although he suffered a knee injury back in December, it is thought Depay will be fit by the time plans are made for the next campaign to begin.
With the 26-year-old out of contract in the summer of 2021, it seems likely that Lyon would be willing to cash in on their star performer.
One former Arsenal player would almost certainly be delighted to see Depay in the club’s colours.
In 2016, Marc Overmars heaped praise on the forward, telling
The player who can operate in attack or out wide played 53 times for United, scoring seven goals.

It’s fair to suggest that the Dutch destroyer will need to improve on his United form to win over the Arsenal faithful.

Since leaving the Premier League, however, Depay has been brilliant for Lyon.
He has netted 53 goals and registered 43 assists for the French outfit, becoming the club captain more recently.
At 26, he would fit into the ethos that Arteta wants to stamp on the Gunners and he’d also have a point to prove.
His pace, flair and direct approach could see him become a hit in North London.
